Time and timesheets

Log time with a timer or by hand, fill in your week, and send it for approval.

Log time on a task

Open a task and go to its Time section.

  • Start timer counts the time while you work. Pause and carry on later, then Stop & log - the time is logged on the task for today, with an optional note. The timer shows at the top of every page, so you can open its task from anywhere.
  • Or type the time in the Log row: the date, the time (1:30, 1.5, 90m or 1h 30m all work), a note, and whether it is billable (the $ tick).

Only one timer runs at a time. Time can't be logged for days still to come, and a day holds up to 16 hours (change it under Settings > Business settings > Time).

Log time on a project

On a project's Time tab, click Log time to add time on any of its tasks, or general time that isn't on a task (meetings, travel). Project managers can log time for the people on their team, and change or delete anyone's time that isn't billed yet.

Your week

Timesheets > My week shows the week as a grid: a row for each project and task you worked on, a column for each day.

  • Type the time in any cell and click Save. The totals add up as you type.
  • Add a row for another project or task (or general time).
  • The cell colours show where the time stands: waiting approval, approved, sent back or billed. Billed time can't be changed.

Admins and managers can open anyone's week from the list at the top.

Approval

When approval is on (Settings > Business settings > Time), new time is "not sent" until you click Send for approval on your week. The project's managers find it under Timesheets > Approvals (and on the project's Time tab), tick it and Approve, or Send back with a note - you're told either way. Only approved time is billed.

When approval is off, time counts as soon as it's logged.

All time

Timesheets > All time lists the time entries - yours, and everyone's on the projects you manage - with filters for the person, project, state, billable or not and dates, and the totals. Export to Excel downloads them.

Timers and timesheets are in the Standard plan and above. Timesheet approvals are in the Professional plan and above.
