Payouts and refunds
Record Stripe payouts to your bank, with their fees, and handle refunds the right way.
How the money moves
- A customer pays online. The payment goes into the Stripe Clearing account in your books.
- Stripe pays the money out to your bank, less its fee.
- You record the payout, so the clearing account empties into your bank account and the fee is booked as an expense.
Record a payout
- In Accounting, go to Online Payments. Payments received online lists each payment with its fee.
- Click Record Payout.
- Tick the Payments in this payout, and enter the Payout date, the bank account it Reached, and the Payout reference from Stripe.
- Save.
The payout appears under Payouts to the bank. Click Check for new payments if a payment hasn't shown yet.
Your bank balance in Ellibo now matches your bank statement, and the fees show in your expenses. This also makes bank reconciliation easy.
Refunds
Refunds are made in your Stripe dashboard, not in Ellibo. Then record them in your books:
- Create a credit note for the invoice. See Credit notes and debit notes.
- Record the refund paid out to the customer.
