Bank reconciliation
Import your bank statement, match each line with your books, and record anything missing, so your bank balance in Ellibo matches the bank's.
Bank reconciliation is part of the Professional plan and above.
Before you start
- Add the bank account under Cash & Bank. See Cash and bank.
- Download your statement from your bank as an Excel or CSV file.
Reconcile
- Go to Cash & Bank and click Reconcile. Choose the bank account.
- Click Start reconciliation. Enter the Statement date (last day on the statement) and the Closing balance on the statement.
- Click Import statement and choose your file. Tell Ellibo which column holds the Date, Description, Reference / cheque no., Withdrawal (debit) and Deposit (credit). If your bank uses one amount column with a Dr / Cr column, choose that instead. Click Check, then Import.
- Click Find matches. Ellibo pairs each statement line with an entry in your books, by amount, date and reference.
Review the suggestions:
- Accept a match, or Accept all suggestions.
- Find to pick the matching entry yourself.
- Record this line in your books for things the bank did that aren't in your books yet, such as bank charges or interest.
- Ignore lines that don't belong.
- Unmatch to undo a match.
- When the difference is zero, click Finish.
After reconciling
Click Print for the Bank Reconciliation Statement. Matched entries are marked as reconciled, so next month you only see what's new. Made a mistake? Undo reopens the last reconciliation.
Tip
Reconcile every month, soon after the statement arrives. It's quicker with fewer lines, and you'll spot missing entries early.
