Tax summary for your returns

See the tax you charged, the tax you can reclaim, and what you owe for any period, ready for your tax return.

The tax summary is part of the Standard plan and above.

Run the summary

1. Go to Reports and open the tax summary. It's named after your tax, for example VAT Summary or Sales Tax Summary.
2. Choose the period of your return.

It shows:

• Output tax on your sales, by rate
• Input tax on purchases and expenses that you can reclaim
• the net tax payable or refundable

Download it as Excel or PDF for your return or your accountant.

Registers

For line-by-line detail, open the Sales Register and Purchase Register. They list every invoice and bill with its net value and tax.

After filing

Lock the period so nobody changes it: Settings › Business Settings › Books › Lock books till. See Journal entries and books lock.
