The shop floor

One simple screen for operators on a tablet or phone, with names, PINs, timers and instructions.

The Shop floor is one simple screen for the people making things, from a phone to a tablet on the wall. It comes with Professional and above. On lower plans, operators can still use each order's page.

Important

The shop floor needs an internet connection. There is no offline use: stock and cost have to reach the server. Plan for good Wi-Fi at your tablets.

Set up a tablet

  1. Add your people under Settings > Operators, with a PIN if you want one. They are free and need no sign-in of their own. See Users and roles.
  2. Sign in on the tablet. Invite a free Operator user for this, so the tablet sees the shop floor only.
  3. Open Shop floor and choose Add to Home screen in the browser.

One signed-in tablet can serve a whole line.

Each person

  1. Tap the name at the top. Who is working here? lists your operators.
  2. Tap your name and enter your PIN.
  3. Choose your work centre, or All work centres.

Work centre shows all the open work there. My work shows what you have worked on. Sign out of this screen leaves the name.

Do the work

Each card shows the order, the step, how much to make and the expected time.

  • Start, then Pause or Done. Carry on starts again after a pause. A timer runs while you work.
  • Instructions opens what to do at this step.
  • Orange text means the components are not all here yet.
  • A step Waiting for another step can't start until that one is done.

Under the ... button:

  • Record quantity made
  • Block: the work stopped - choose the reason. It counts in OEE.
  • Scrap
  • Quality alert and Maintenance request
  • Open the order

When the last step is done, the screen takes you to finish the order. Orders with no steps left show Close production.

Quality checks

A check waiting on a step shows on the card. Tap it, then pass or fail it, type the measure, or take a picture. See Quality checks and alerts.

Scan

Use the search box to scan or type an order, item or serial number. A barcode scanner that types like a keyboard works here.

Good to know

  • The screen refreshes by itself every two minutes.
  • Switch on Operators must have a PIN on the shop floor under Settings.
  • Switch on Work can start only when components are ready if you want that rule.
  • Measures are typed in by hand. Machines and measuring devices aren't connected.
