Onboarding and exits
Joining and exit checklists, resignations, exit interviews and finishing up.
Onboarding and exits are on the Professional plan, and in the free trial.
Checklists
A checklist is a list of jobs. Each job says who does it (HR, the manager, the employee, IT or finance) and how many days before or after the joining or last day it is due. A new business starts with a standard joining list and a standard exit list. Change them in Settings, or add more.
Onboarding
Go to Onboarding and start a checklist for the new person. Each job gets a due date, counted from their joining date. The standard joining list covers:
- sending the offer and joining details
- collecting ID, address and education documents
- preparing a laptop, email and access
- adding bank and tax details
- a welcome and team introduction
- reading and signing company policies
- setting first goals
- a 30-day check-in
Someone is leaving
Go to Exits. A person can resign themselves, or an exit can be started for them: a resignation, termination, retirement, end of contract or a death. Enter the reason, the resignation date and the last day. If you don't enter a last day, it is worked out from their notice days, or 30 days if their record has none.
The manager and HR are told. An exit then needs approval:
- Approved - the person shows as On notice, and the exit checklist starts, with dates counted from their last day.
- Not approved - the person is told to speak to HR.
- Withdrawn - they stay after all. They go back to Active, and open exit jobs go away.
The standard exit list covers:
- handing over work and knowledge
- an exit interview
- returning the laptop and company assets
- removing email and system access
- clearing dues and advances
- the final settlement
- relieving and experience letters
Exit interview
Record their answers on the exit, and whether you would hire them again.
Letters
Relieving and experience letters can be made once an exit is approved. They are kept with the person's documents.
Finish the exit
When the checklist is done, finish the exit. The app warns you if jobs are still open, or if the last day hasn't come, because finishing early makes today their last day.
The person then shows as Exited, stops counting for your plan, and can't clock in. Their HR role is removed, so check any other apps they use. Their past records stay.
