Kiosks and devices

A shared kiosk with a PIN for workers without a sign-in, attendance machines and files.

Kiosks and devices are on Standard and above.

A shared kiosk

A kiosk is a tablet or phone you place at the door. Each person enters their PIN to clock in or out, so they don't need a sign-in or a phone of their own.

  1. Add a kiosk in Settings and give it a name, such as "Front door". Choose its location if you want.
  2. The app shows a key once. Copy it and keep it safe. Only a scrambled copy is stored, so it can't be shown again.
  3. Open the kiosk on the tablet.
  4. Give each person a PIN of 4 to 6 digits on their employee record.

A kiosk can take a photo at each clock-in if you turn that on. This isn't facial recognition. The photo is only kept with the record, and nothing checks who is in it.

Location limits don't apply at a kiosk, because you chose where it is.

If you lose a tablet, turn that kiosk off in Settings and add a new one.

Attendance machines

If your machine can send data to a web address, add a device instead of a kiosk. It gets its own key. Give each person their machine number as their biometric ID on the employee record.

Ask your machine's supplier whether it can send data this way. Ellibo doesn't connect to machines directly, and we haven't tested every make.

Import from a file

From Attendance, import a file of clock-ins with these columns:

  • the person's biometric ID or employee ID
  • the date and time
  • in or out, if you know it

If the file doesn't say in or out, the app alternates through each person's day, oldest first. It tells you which rows it couldn't read. You can import up to 5,000 rows at a time.
