Customer portal and requests
Give each customer a private page to see their subscriptions and invoices, pay, and ask to change plan or cancel.
The customer portal is part of the Professional plan and above.
Turn it on
Go to Settings › Business settings › Billing preferences and tick Customers can open their subscriptions and invoices with a private link, and ask to change plan or cancel. Save.
Share the link
Click Portal link next to the customer on the Customers page, or the link icon at the top right of a subscription, to copy the customer's private portal link. Send it by email or WhatsApp.
What customers see
- Your subscriptions: each plan, its price and next invoice, with Ask to change and Ask to cancel
- Invoices: download any invoice, and Pay now online if you've set up online payments
Customers don't need an account. The private link is their key, so share it only with them.
Handle requests
Requests appear under Customer Requests, and the inbox icon in the top bar shows how many are Waiting.
Approve a request to make the change on the subscription, or Decline it. Plan changes from the portal follow your Plan changes preference.
Let customers do it themselves
In Settings › Online sign-up & portal, under Customer portal:
- Customers change their plan themselves: the change is made straight away, as your Plan changes preference says: now with the difference charged or credited, or at the next renewal. No request comes to you.
- Customers cancel themselves: they choose a reason from your cancellation reasons and can add a note. The subscription runs to the end of the term, then ends. Until then they can click Keep my subscription.
- Offer before they cancel: choose one of your coupons. Before cancelling, the customer sees Before you go: stay and get 20% off. Taking it puts the coupon on the subscription instead of cancelling.
Each of these shows in the subscription's history, with the reason in the Churn report.
Payment method
When a subscription is paid automatically, the portal shows the saved card and an Update payment method button. The customer authorises the new one on Stripe's secure page.
