Import products from Excel
Bring in your whole product list at once with the Excel template, instead of adding products one by one.
Import your list
- Go to Menu › Products and click Import from Excel above the list.
- Get the template: click Download template (.xlsx).
- Fill in the template, one product per row, with its name, category, price and the other columns you use. Keep the column headings as they are.
- Choose your file: pick your saved file.
- Check and import: POS reads the file and shows what it found, including any rows with problems. Fix the rows it flags, or leave them out.
- Click Import.
The products appear under Menu › Products and on the billing screen.
Tip
Start with 5 to 10 rows to check that your file is set up right, then import the rest.
Good to know
- Import only adds products. A row is skipped if a product with the same name, short code or barcode already exists. Your existing products are never changed, with one exception below.
- Cost Price (optional) is what one unit costs you, for the Profit & Loss report. For a product you already have whose Cost Price isn't set yet, the file's Cost Price is filled in, so you can add costs to your whole list at once. A Cost Price that's already set is never changed. To get your list with its current costs, click Download Excel above the product list.
- Categories in the file that don't exist yet are created for you.
- Tax Group must be the exact name of one of your tax groups, for example Sales Tax 8.875%. Create tax groups before you import (Set up taxes). Leave the column blank for products with no tax.
- Customers import the same way. Go to Customers › Customers and click Import from Excel. A customer whose mobile number is already saved is skipped.
